2005 edition: Overview
The 2005 edition of the Lebanese Film Festival will present the four
following sections:
Section: film of today – film of yesterday
The preview of a film of today (feature-length film) will open the festival.
We will also present a feature film from Lebanon 's cinematographic heritage
(film of yesterday) as the history of our cinema also constitutes the
memory of each one of us.
Section: Lebanese films 2004-2005
This section presents a selection of
feature or short films, whether experimental, documentary or feature,
produced and directed by Lebanese in Lebanon or abroad during 2004-2005.
Section: Home movies in Super 8 and 8 mm
They come from
the past, but these are our friends, parents, lovers… Magnificent
actors filmed by ingenious unknown persons. A curious selection of films,
shot by Lebanese amateurs between the 1950s and 1980s, in Super 8 and
8 mm .
(…) These films, most of which were found in the Sunday market, in boutiques
or forgotten in boxes, tell the story of our life, our romances, our
anniversaries, our holidays, our travels… Stories that might perhaps
seem insignificant – but we had no idea how rich they could be on film.
Section:
Guest filmmaker
Beginning with this edition, we screen the work
of a young, established, foreign filmmaker. In this section, we seek
to raise public awareness about a new way of making films, but most of
all to present quality films that are not available through the usual
channels.

Following this fifth edition, “..ne.a Beyrouth” will edit, thanks to
its partner, the Société Générale de Banque
au Liban (SGBL), a DVD of 10 Lebanese short films containing a “best
of” the first five programmes of the festival.
